  • Micro Ear Surgery in Varanasi

Ear surgeries are commonly performed to treat conditions like ear infections, hearing loss, blocked ears, ear discharge, congenital ear defects, and tumours. Both children and adults undergo ear surgery. The majority of ear surgeries are microsurgeries, which are performed under a microscope to allow surgeons to see the problem in the ear.

When the eardrum loses its ability to self-heal, the ear specialist microsurgeon performs surgeries to repair holes in the eardrum. The eardrum is repaired using fascia, which is the thin tissue that covers our muscles. This entire procedure is known as micro ear surgery or tympanoplasty. Tympanoplasty is a surgical operation that is performed to reconstruct the eardrum or small bones of the middle ear.

Common symptoms of the infected ear

  • Ear pain
  • Buzzing in the ear
  • Whistling sounds when sneezing and blowing the nose
  • Decrease in hearing or hearing loss
  • Middle ear inflammation or infection

If you have any of the following symptoms contact us at 9454219800 or 8765848001.

When is tympanoplasty needed?

Your doctor may recommend tympanoplasty in case of

  • A clear, pus-filled or ear drainage
  • Hearing loss
  • Ringing in the ear
  • Spinning sensation from vertigo
  • Nausea or vomiting results from vertigo

How is the diagnosis done?

  • A hearing test, or audiogram, is an audiometric test that measures the function of the ear’s hearing organ. It is used to analyse the tone and frequency of sounds, as well as to measure issues related to inner ear function.
  • If a patient has a history of hearing loss, vertigo, or any other facial weakness, an examination should be performed.
  • A typical otoscopy exam examines the movement of the eardrum and malleus, a hammer-shaped small bone in the middle ear.
  • Routine blood tests
  • Urine testing regularly

What is the procedure for tympanoplasty?

  1. Tympanoplasty is typically done while the practitioner is medicated. The surgeon will then insert equipment called an ear speculum into the external ear canal. Then an operating microscope is placed.
  1. For large perforations, our surgeon will then make an incision into the ear canal, usually behind the ear, which is then carefully moved forward, revealing the eardrum. The eardrum will be lifted by the surgeon so that the middle ear can be examined.
  1. If the eardrum has a hole, it is debrided and the abnormal area is cut away. A piece of fascia, or tissue beneath the epidermis, from the temporalis muscle behind the ear is then cut and placed under the hole in the eardrum to create a new intact eardrum. This transplanted tissue allows the normal eardrum skin to grow across the hole. At times, the surgeon may reconstruct the middle ear bones during this procedure.
